The poor daffodils got quite tattered in the rain these last few days, I’m so glad I took some pictures and picked a tiny bouquet before it started. I’ve got two varieties that will still bloom – a lovely double gold blossom and a small multi-headed white. Then the daffies will slowly fade into the grass and we’ll mow the field sometime in early June once they’re dormant for the season.Spring is a good time to watch the progression of flowers and make notes where you want (need?) more. I’ve got a big list of bulbs I’m dreaming about…. always.

The tulips have started. My favorite tulip shapes are the double/peony, the elegant single late, and the parrot (pictured below).

This naturalizing tulip (above) variety is gorgeous and deer resistant. There are several shapes + colors to chose from. My first planting was three years ago and this year I can see that most of the clumps have about doubled in size. Just lovely. (Bertha says hello!)

I’m pretty sure this daffodil variety is “record landscaper” – a rather boring name for such a pretty thing.

Nothing quite like those first few bouquets as the green returns…..
