I waited my whole life to see a spotted little fawn and now it happens every year. I am just as excited as the first time I saw one, over and over. One of my favorite simple joys of living here.

We finally moved the lilacs I had tucked into the compost for a later planting – ahem – three summers ago. We’ll see how they do. Fingers crossed.

Our girl is home visiting. Yes, the peonies waited for her. It’s so sweet to have the house feel a little full again.
